  • How much would someone have to pay you in order for you to give up the computer for 1 year?

This is a more difficult question for me that it might be for others. Mainly because of where we are and my circumstances.  I have no friends or family here.  I have no t.v. to keep me occupied.  I have DVDs and German radio but I get tired of seeing the same movies over and over and I usually forget to turn the radio on.  I don’t have a car and the train fare can really add up in a hurry.  My computer is my lifeline to the outside world.  No matter the obscure subject matter that crosses my mind I can look it up.  I can play games, “meet” people, blog, post pictures for friends and family back home and even more important, to me anyway, I can look at the pictures they post for me. I also webcam with my family which helps me not miss them as much.   So for me to give up my laptop for a full year I would need a lot of money. I would want enough money to get a satellite t.v. with dozens of channels, a car, unlimited phone calling privileges to call all around the world and at least 4 round trip tickets home, plus spending money.  So I’m guessing a round figure of at least 100,000. Nah, let’s make it 120,000. Ten thou a month, why not?

I just answered this Featured Question, you can answer it too!

  • WOW it would be hard to give it up for you! I wouldn’t want to either…

I keep all of my pitures on my computer and I use my Photoshop… The hardest thing would be no being able to get to my pictures for me…

That being said… it wouldn’t be that hard. lol Once I got over my Xanga withdrawel… I think I’d make it through.lol

Here’s hoping we neer have to!

  • I love my computer too and am very lost when it or the cable company acts up. I see why yours is so important to you. It really IS your lifeline.

However, I feel I have to coach you a little on the deal thing. I would like to suggest that if the opportunity arrives that you are asked to really give up your computer for a year that a few million $$ would be more sufficient. Greedy? Maybe. But since it means regular contact with loved ones…which has no price tag really, then the amount should be in the millions. You might want to fly them all over and put them up in a nice place for a month or so too.

I’d ask for several million because that’s the kind of girl I am. heeheeeee

    Have a lovely evening.

  • @piqued -  See now I didn’t think about that but you are totally right. Instead of me flying over to see them they all need to come here.  I could rent another apartment, stock it with everything it needs and always have a friend or family to tour Europe with, your a genius Bonnie.  I might not even miss my computer at all if I had that kind of deal.

  • I’d be pretty lost on it too…..but I am on it a lot for work
related stuff during the day.  It’s also my main form of
communication with all my family back home in Georgia and my quickest
form of communication with you……..so NO, No, No, can’t give it up.
    LOL

  • Okay…let’s go bigger….A few million, so you and hubs would never have to work again and could have two homes…(or you could at least leave the heat on back here)…O, this is fun !  BUT  we’d miss you, terribly ( I suppose, we’d probably be happy for you – ya, maybe).  Dree-ee-e-am, dream, dream, dream…….   Ta

  • @cestmoe - Heck as long as were dreaming, why not dream yourself and hub over here for a week or two in my spare apartment, we can throw in a side trip to Paris and Prague too. Then you wouldn’t have to miss me.

  • AYE! You’re a good lass!!!! Backatcha!

  • Wow, for a whole year?!!!!  It would have to be a million, for sure!!  I need my internet-went w/o for about 12 hours over the weekend, I was beside myself, and tired of playing Solitaire!

  • I’d think that’d your wishlist would total a bit more than 120k!
Besides, if you gave up your laptop for a year, it’d have costs for more than just you! :)
You know I think it’d be cheaper for someone to just let you keep your laptop.

  • When I was in financial trouble last year I let go the cable TV, my cell phone and even my health insurance! But I did not give up the internet.  With the net I can still keep in touch with people and I found sites where I could watch my favorite TV shows.  So to me, since the net can do so much….the price would have to be at least $1million.  That way I can afford to travel the world for a year and not think about the net…

  • Hi there! You had stopped by my site when Angi posted about my brand spankin’ new door over the weekend.

Glad you stopped by! I just perused your site and thought it was really nice! It’s been crazy this week, so I appologize for stopping in so late! Have a blessed Easter! Tracy

PS. Feel free to stop by anytime! The door’s always open!

  • It would be very hard…even for that amount of money.  :(

  • If I could go sailing, say round the world or even just to the Galapagos, I wouldn’t miss the computer at all, or I didn’t when I used to go blue-water sailing. If I had to stay here, I think I would go mad unless I was allowed to surf on a cell phone!
