  • This time next week I’ll be back in the States for  three weeks, I
miss my family, I’m going crazy, I need to hear English and see a
friendly face.  I hesitate to say vacation because while I’m there
I figured I might as well get a few of the ‘annuals’ out of the
way.  Since I’ve never heard of anyone planning their vacation
around getting their boobs squashed flat with two cold steamrollers and
their private yum yums poked and prodded, I’m just saying this is my
sanity saver.  Everyday the list of things to do while home
grows.  Thankfully most are just phone calls to companies that
don’t have int’l numbers.  But sometime while I’m there I need to
get my eyes checked, see approx how much furnished apts run, scope out
a few used/new cars,. and do other odds and ends.

Then, I’m going to run from one end of the state to the other to see
friends who thinks it makes more sense for me to go another three or
four hours than for them to get in the car.  Never mind the fact
that I will drive three and a half hours just to get to the Frankfurt
airport and then fly for 7 hours, then sit in Atlanta for a couple
hours before getting on another flight and finally driving another 45
minutes to where my sis lives.  No problem people …  what’s
another 3 hour drive.  Don’t let me interrupt your weekend.

As you can see I have some ambivalence about going home.
Sometimes it just seems like a pain in the keister.  Other times I
want to be able to see my daughters so badly that I would go around the
world twice just to be able to look across the room and see their
smile.  While I dread the actual traveling part of the trip, I
can’t wait to be there.  Does this makes any sense?

  • Yes , Elizabeth , this makes sense ans I understand perfectly what you feel  included the ambivalence .

     Love           Michel.

  • Yes, just rest and relax while you are in the air.
when you are driving that three hours all over the place, just do some thinking.
I hope you enjoy you vacation adventure.

lets not talk about driving distances to see the daughters… iwould jump in the car and see either of mine right now… but htye are busy, so I shoul djust let them be.

    Safe travels

  • Yeah, funny how everyone wants to see you, yet they don’t want to go out of THEIR way to see you, even though you came all the way from Europe.

  • Honestly, I would tell the friends who live 3 hours away that I would love to see them, but after all the travelling and the various things I have to do (like getting my yum yums inspected–ha that’s going to be my new favourite word to describe my yingyang), I just won’t have the time..but if they’d like to drive over, that would be swell. If they don’t understand that, well then poo to them…  But that’s just me.

Hope you have a wonderful time despite all the hassles.

  • Yes, I can totally relate to the one that does the travel. Don’t need to go into graphic detail. I don’t ever hold my breath waiting for people to come out of their way to visit me. Oh well, it is their loss, I Figure.

  • Makes all the sense in the world!  I miss all my friends and family in Melbourne (which is only a 1.5 hour flight or a 11 hour drive away), yet I resent that about 2 weeks of my 4 weeks of leave a year are spent traveling back to see them.  What happened to them coming to visit me, as they said they would when I had decided to take the job in Sydney.  Sometimes I think I won’t bother anymore, and just enjoy my 4 weeks a year I get off, and then other times I just want to go home!

  • Makes sense to me…but I don’t see how you do it…I couldn’t stay away from home and family that long. I live 6 states away from mine and I am always going home Then, after a couple of days, I am ready to come home!

  • excuse me? who did you say you were staying with? because I’m sure you meant that youwould be staying with your wonderful and loving daughter in her guest bedroom.

  • Now I wish I lived in Atlanta… I’d certainly go and keep ya company at the airport if I did!

  • Makes perfect sense. Hopefully, the trip will turn out to be much more enjoyable than you planned.

  • Yep, it makes sense! Hopefully the end results will make all that travelling and commuting worth it!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend, and a better week that lies ahead!

  • Makes absolute and total sense. But, you are going to drive the two days to come visit me in L.A., right?

I hope you have a safe trip and a wonderful time with your girls!

  • Miss you and hope you are having a fantabulous time!
